Color Therapy (which is also known as Chromotherapy) is a natural system of healing using the therapeutic energy of LIGHT to heal or restore balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit.

We are all influenced by the energy of color in our lives, whether we are aware of it or not and light (which is full of all colors of the spectrum) sustains and nourishes us (and our whole planet) on every level. Imagine a world without sunshine or the sun.

Color Therapy is one of the fastest growing and developing areas of complementary health which draws from many different traditions from ancient times up to the science and psychology in the current day.

For example, the ancient Egyptians built solarium rooms with different colored glass so the sun would shine through the colored glass onto the patient to achieve specific benefits.  Other ancients used different colored silk clothes to filter light onto their bodies. There is also evidence of colored waters being used. Color therapy is said to be from Atlantean teachings and has been passed down through generations of healers.

Some of the tools used by a color therapist may include: crystals, color filtered light, colored fabrics, color visualisations amongst others and we will be exploring all of these on ‘Create Your Color Story’

We can absorb light (and therefore color) in many different ways through our eyes, body and food so it truly touches every aspect of our life.

Think about how you use color in your everyday.

We have a two way relationship with color: 1) We use color as a language to express who we are through the colors we wear to colors we decorate our homes with. 2) The colors surrounding us have profound affects on our thoughts, moods and behavior.

“Create Your Color Story” is here to help you look at this relationship and all aspects of your life. Firstly by helping you understand the meaning and symbolism of colors you may choose and secondly to help you create a ‘color story’ that truly expresses who you are, how you see the world and to promote a balanced and healthy life through the power of color.

I do hope you enjoy the articles, experiences and inspiration we post on the site as we grow and add more color resources throughout 2015.
